INTERACTIVE ART
2007-2009 Collection
Acrylic on Canvas

Analia's interpretation of tic tac toe, darts, and other classic games engages viewers as participants, using symbols of power and gender as well as more everyday symbols, to playfully express social themes and morals on canvas. Art becomes interactive -like a game -while expressing signs and symbols that resonate with each participant.

Although the “game board” artwork structure may look like Tic Tac Toe, the intention is to consider “playing the game” with mindsets familiar to us in life.  As art is an expression, the artist has created an interactive work of art that engages participants on 3 levels: Beginner; Advanced; Expert.  How do you experience power? At what level are you playing?

GAME OF POWER

Level 1 Beginner:

WOMEN VS MEN

Opponents use this power play when they think they can not get what they want by just asking. They often assume that what they want can not be obtained without competing for it.  The expected situation is one in which one's loss is the other’s gain. One's own power is only apparent through someone else. The challenge is external.

Level 2 Advanced:

FEMALE VS MALE

Here the competition is between our own male-female aspects within ourselves. One must look inside for power and strategies. The challenge is internal, not external.

Level 3 Expert:

EQUILIBRIUM

The power is in the equilibrium.

At what level are you playing?

The pieces

The traditional set of dominoes contains one distinct piece for each possible combination of the two ends. Auto Dominio, the pieces are painted with six different actions:love; move; enjoy; feel; create; make. The blank end directs the player to wait/consider.

Object of the Game

To leave the reaction and take full responsibility for our own choices and actions.

Line of play

Starting with a single tile, the line of play typically grows in two opposite directions when players add matching action tiles.

Each matching action tile gives the player the opportunity to choose the combination of actions, and to take responsibility for one’s own choices and actions.

The winner

The one who is happier and able to enjoy building the game s/he wants to play.
